Friday November 15, 2019

Hello parents,

This week we had a very special day! We went on our field trip to the Leighton Art Centre. It was a beautiful day and we had lots of opportunities to explore. We focussed on the season winter and what the land looks like, and what animals and people are doing.

First, we looked at a variety of bones and animal droppings.

Next, we learned how to sketch a pine tree. We really focussed on drawing lightly and taking our time to add details.

Next, we created our own winter clay ornaments. We had a variety of tools to use to add different textures to our scenes.

After lunch, we went on a nature walk. We looked at Barbara Leighton's house and all of her and her husbands beautiful paintings. We also went to echo hill which is close to her house where we practiced making an echo between the rolling hills!

Last, we created human sculptures who are dressed for winter and taking part in a winter activity.

During our learning conferences next week, you will be able to check out all of the awesome work that the students created!

Reminders:
-Please sign up for learning conferences online. They are next Thursday and Friday (Nov 21-22)
