We have had a fabulous start to the school year. Everyone has settled in nicely and is trying their best to complete a variety of learning tasks, which includes building, reading, writing, drawing and painting.
Students worked in pairs to use natural objects to create all of the letters in the alphabet for our class word wall! They used sticks for straight lines and beans and pine cones for curvy lines. We will use this word wall all year to help us with our writing.
Class mosaic - The grade 1/2's collaborated and cooperated to paint a mosaic for our classroom. We painted a variety of lines to create this beautiful piece of art!
In science, we are learning all about creating colour! To start off the unit, students worked independently and in groups to identify colors in a variety of natural and manufactured objects to create sculptures. Next, we will look at the difference between colors that are transparent and opaque.
We have also participated in sharing circles where we have talked about building positive relationships and identifying and regulating our many emotions, which we will continue throughout the rest of the school year.

I'm thrilled to be spending the school year with Room 8 and we look forward to sharing all of the learning from our class with all of our families. Stay tuned for our weekly post every Friday.
Sincerely,
Miss. Caughey and the students in Room 8 :)
